Spider-Verse effect - Getting Trapcode Particular On 2s
Sometimes you may want your camera move to be smooth, but your particles to be animating on 2s (or 3s or 4s). In this quick tip, Michael shows you how to get Trapcode Particular animating on a different frame rate from the rest of your composition. This is a technique that was used to great effect in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Offset frame rates for artistic effect is a great motion graphics technique.

I WANT TO USE THE PRESETS BUT WHEN I TRY TO USE THEM ONLY THE DEFAULT PRESET LOADS NO MATTER WHICH PRESET I CHOOSE
Exactly what I wanted to know - thanks for the helpful tutorial!
There's no way to have different 3D models randomize? You can only clone and duplicate one model? For example, what if i wanted a variety of fruit models, you can't randomize different models, only one? You would basically need to create multiple Geo layers separately to do that then?
how to get it in after effects

Say I use a png and match the background image than delete the background after the color correction and use the png in another software is that possible
Mine 3d element (glf) format is not supercomp while applying the position get disturbed i got irritated with this how to fix this? Plz help
thankyou so much bro for this
Just found this by accident and its fantastic. I have a question, with all of the controversy regarding Adobe these days, is this compatible with other software 😆 Regards Pete
Dumb question, but why do you need the extra solids and guides in addition to the ground?
They help you place things in the scene where you want them.
@@MaxonRedgiant you mean just in case you want to add more stuff in addition to what you're placing on the table?
Like this comment if u watching this for school purposes
Would it be possible to do the color match, and then delete the background so that the subject is transparent but still matched to the scene? This would save so much time in my unreal engine workflow to be able to use a still image of the environment and color match the transparent subject to the scene and then delete the background so it feels more natural inside of the UE5 scene!
You could use Supercomp's color match button to get the values you like the look of, then copy those values into a color correction window in Unreal. You can set a color correction window to work per actor, so just set it to be your subject.
Would it be possible to use super comp, and then render ONLY the subject? It’d be so amazing to use stills from an unreal engine scene that I’m going to place my subject in and do the super comp edit so that the subject fits in unreal perfectly without having to do a bunch of steps in UE.
It's not possible at the moment - Supercomp was built with the intention that it's the final step in compositing. That doesn't mean we can't add that sort of functionality in the future though. We'll pass your request on to the team.

This doesn't work at all, the emitter stays in the centre, Did you change the way it works since this tutorial?
Nothing has changed that should affect this tutorial. The position of the emitter isn't changed by using motion paths - just the movement of the particles. For more predictable results, we like to start with the emitter's position at the motion path light's first position keyframe.
I'm working on a 4k project with an object(fbx) and its textures. I noticed that when I load the model, the scene is very manageable and the preview is fast. But every time I add a texture, the preview is slowed down by 1 second, so since my object has 8 textures, the preview is slowed down by 8 seconds per frame. So to preview the scene (about 7 seconds of scene) it takes up to 40 minutes or an hour. Also because there are other effects, such as motion blur, color correction, etc. Is this normal? I also opened a ticket but we still haven't been given a solution. Do you have other solutions? Help me please spec: Windows 11 Pro AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X 16-Core Processor 3.50 GHz 128 GB (128 GB usable) Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 12gb
I believe I just responded to your support request, but just for everyone's benefit, here's what I found with your project. As you reported, the responsiveness of playback is much faster until you start selecting texture maps. Each map selected increases the frame render time. This is definitely expected since Geo is having to request that image data from After Effects and the exchange takes a measure of time. Also, the size of the texture being used will impact speed. The larger the texture map, the more time it takes to process. The texture maps in your project are all 4096x4096, which is on the larger side. As an experiment, I precomposed each map and scaled them down to 2048x2048, a reduction factor of 4. This resulted in a dramatic improvement to speed. There is a little sacrifice to detail fidelity, but if you're not needing to show the model close-up, this may be acceptable. It depends on your needs. Additionally, I found two maps that weren't necessary. In Material 2 (outer), the color map is a solid blue, so I sampled the color from the layer and entered that into Geo's Base Color picker. Likewise, the outer metallic map is a solid 48% gray. So, I just set the Metalness value to 48%. This eliminated the need to reference either of those layers, which further preserved performance. Any additional effects applied over the top of Geo will have an impact on speed. Motion blur is especially expensive to process.

Looking good 👏. I think GPU render should be ON automatically, but great. Any tutorials with Trapcode GEO, compositing and SuperComp. Always appreciated!
Glad you liked the tutorial! GPU Render can be slower in many cases - that's why it's not defaulted to be on. It's mostly helpful with many sprites.

There used to be a 'Gravity' parameter for auxiliary particles in an earlier version of Particular. I cannot find it in the newer version. I happen to keep an old version of After Effects and confirmed that it used to exist. Was it moved somewhere else? It doesn't seem to be removed because when I bring in an older composition and convert it to the new one, the aux particles still have gravity. What am I missing?
ruclips.net/video/p9GNdK9p3mQ/видео.html
I'm trying to create this effect with the new version
@@user-tx3nd3fe3j sure thing! There is no longer an aux system at all, as we're sure you've noticed. When you create a new system that is spawning from another system, you can have entirely different environment settings (and all other settings, for that matter) for the new system! To make it happen, in the Trapcode Designer, select the environment block and there's a "gravity down" block preset you can use or just start adjusting things yourself in the designer.

I cannot for the life of me get an OBJ sequence to work in Trapcode Form. The first OBJ file will load as normal but I don't see any animation. Any idea why this might be happening? I've made sure to avoid the numbers issue in the filename. Anyway, thanks for any help in trying to solve this issue.
Hello! Sorry for the trouble. Could you please check to see if there are any non-English characters in the file name?
@@MaxonRedgiant Hey! Here's the filename for the first frame in the sequence: black_hawk_rotor0001 Not sure if the underscores are an issue but to my mind they should be fine no?
@@AndrewMinett Underscores are perfectly fine. Perhaps try putting one before the number in your file name? If that doesn't help, please create a support ticket so our team can look into this at support.maxon.net
I actually figured out the problem. It had to do with After Effects and the import window default file type selection. If you changed to show all files it would allow you to ise the button to change the import to a '3D object for use with Trapcode'. This pitfall should be addressed somehow in the manual as it wasn't explained anywhere as a possible hangup. Cheers!
Great Tutorial just please turn the background music down just a tad :D
I think the ground is not reacting good with the monster in the background
I know nothing about VFX but this looks super sick. Feels like every layer in supercomp is renderered and than used as a background for the one on top, so everything blends through correctly. Think that's why the viewport feels a bit laggy. But sure looks easy doing it with that app
Hello! Glad you liked the video and the tool. Yes, every layer in Supercomp is aware of all the other layers below it which makes a huge differenc in compositing. As to the laggy speed, Supercomp renders with the GPU, so a stronger graphics card might make things less sluggish for you.
@@MaxonRedgiant but 8 guess due to screen capture it was also lagging. Preview was probably also at full res
The keyer is only with subscription? I really don't need to spend another $50 a month for something I only use occasionally. Guess I'll have to stick with built in keyer in AE
It's not just Primatte Keyer you get though. Keep in mind that you get the entire collection of our tools. what is the name of the font?
The Creature Feature text is a font called Orbitron.
Hey neat and useful info. thanks!
Hi, I watched an old video from your company instructing about Motion Path and installing a Sprite moving orient along path. So that is the old version, in the current new version, I found the parameters "Orient to Motion" and "Orient to Motion Fad", but right below the parameter "Orient to Spline" is grayed out and not displayed for operation. So how should I make the Sprites move orient along the path? Thank you so much!
The Orient to Spline control allows you to adjust how much particles orient their direction along the path of a text or mask emitter. If you're not using a text or mask emitter, it won't be available because there's no spline for it to follow. It looks like orient to motion is only working on the particles' actual movement. Motion Paths are a displacement and not "real" movement of the particle. We'll mention the issue to our team to see if there is a workaround or if they can make this work as you would expect.
Note: If you have 0 velocity on your particles, Orient to Motion Face in at 0, and no air turbulence, you should notice the Orient to Motion does work with Motion Paths the way you expect.
@@MaxonRedgiant Thank you so much for your help, I truly appreciate it. Wishing continued success and growth. 😊 😊
